Apostle of Adventure
handful of Prisma art from the last several sessions.
our party has been through A Lot. we all had some character building trauma, got magical tattoos and Prisma respecced into a Divine Soul Sorcerer. gg(Prisma is my Aasimar Sorcerer from a 5ed D&D session. they are non-binary and use they/them pronouns.)
What amazingly beautiful artwork! I just adore the color and the wild patterns, but it all flows together so well. Really awesomesauce stuff!
so last night we met up to play D&D but a few people couldn’t make it last minute and we didn’t want to go on ahead without them so we instead did a semi-canon filler episode and played ‘Never Have I Ever’ but as our characters sat round the campfire and it might be one of the best ideas we’ve ever had
The rules are the same as usual; your character can choose not to drink even if they should, or can lie/omit the truth, and others can call bullshit or ask someone to elaborate on their story. No dice need to be rolled, except maybe Con checks to see how drunk everyone is. It requires very little input from the DM (he actually layed as the NPC accompanying us) so it’s a low-effort session for everyone. It’s actually really good for getting into your character’s head as you’re forced to improv parts of their life you might not have thought about before, and also for fostering inter-party relationships, as we discovered some of our party members had a lot in common and earned some respect for each other. Also it was hilarious because we were also getting drunk in real life
If you want to try it, here’s some good questions that we had:
‘Never have I ever…’
- Fallen in love
- Resented the place I came from
- Pretended to be someone else
- Stolen something
- Broken a promise
- Seen a friend die
- Killed an innocent person
- Fornicated with a member of another race
- Been arrested for a crime
so I had a GREAT time with Andavius the other night
I can use this if I ever have a player character solve something or do something faster than I planned
roleplaying characters playing never have i ever, truth or dare, and two truths and a lie are all really, truly excellent ways to get them to know each other and to get to know them better yourself.
D&D is first and foremost a co-operative game and the enjoyment and comfort of fellow players takes precedence over whatever beautiful arc you have in your mind. If you want complete control of the narrative, write a novel.

True for both players and DMs.
Corollary point: as a player, it’s your job to be an interesting protagonist in a way that still allows for the GM and other players to also have their fun. As a player if you’re just there to fuck around, not contribute to the story, or act like you’re the main character, go play a videogame instead.
The worst kind of player is the kind who uses their characterization to be a dick to their groupmates. “But my character is just like that” well you made a bad character for this venue, do better by your team. Think about the other people at your table and whether you’re making it fun for everyone, not just yourself.
